New Curriculum Minor (2015-2016 bulletin)

These are the minor requirements for the 2015-2016 bulletin:

The minor in biology requires a minimum of 20 credits in biology,
including the biology core courses:

BIOL 151 Introduction to Biological Science I (3 credits)

BIOZ 151 Introduction to Biological Science Laboratory I (1 credit)

BIOL152 Introduction to Biological Science II (3 credits)

BIOZ 152 Introduction to Biological Science Laboratory II (1 credit)

Students must select three additional core courses from the following options:

BIOL 200 Quantitative Biology (3 credits)

BIOL 300 Cell and Molecular Biology (equivalent to BIOL 218 Cell Biology) (3 credits)

BIOL 310 Genetics (3 credits)

BIOL 317 Ecology (3 credits)

BIOL 318 Evolution (3 credits)

Also required are an additional three credits in biology at the upper level (at least one of these credits must be a biology laboratory experience).  Only courses applicable toward the B.S. in Biology can be applied toward the minor in biology. For a list of
approved biology electives, see “Biology, Bachelor of Science (B.S.)” in the Undergraduate Bulletin.

A minimum GPA of 2.0 is required for all courses applicable to the minor. A minimum of nine upper-level biology credits must be taken at VCU.
