DOE Scholars Program

The DOE Scholars Program introduces students and recent college graduates to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) mission and operations.

Why should I apply?

Being selected as a DOE Scholar offers the following benefits:

  • Stipends starting at $600 per week for undergraduates and $650 per week for graduate students and post graduates during the internship period
  • Limited travel reimbursement to/from assigned location
  • Direct exposure to and participation in projects and activities in DOE mission-relevant research areas
  • Identification of career goals and opportunities
  • Development of professional networks with leading scientists and subject matter experts

Eligibility

  • Be a U.S. citizenship
  • Be an undergraduate, graduate student, or recent graduate of an accredited institution of higher education majoring in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and related areas.
  • Must be pursuing a degree or have received a degree within 5 years of their starting date in a science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) discipline or have demonstrated interest or experience in a STEM field that supports the DOE mission.

Veterans are encouraged to apply.  DOE Scholars selected by the Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) are given a Veteran’s Preference. Selected veterans will be placed at various federal agencies in Washington, D.C. Veteran candidates who have received a college degree in an appropriate science, technology, engineering or math discipline within ten years of their starting date are eligible for appointments.

Frog Tutoring – Job Opportunity

All Frog Tutoring tutors will meet with assigned students to provide one-on-one private tutoring for subject matters in their areas of expertise. Tutors are to serve as a guide and coach to assist their students to become a successful, independent learner while integrating effective study and learning strategies to maximize the student’s potential for academic progress. Ultimately, it is the tutor’s responsibility to motivate students to want to learn, achieve, and be self-motivated.

  4. As long as tutors work the minimum amount of hours a week, they can work as many hours as they like.

  7. Incentives & Acknowledgement (Hard work does not go unnoticed!!!)
  8. Tutor of the month: Every month the Regional Coordinator from each region will submit one tutor to be selected as the tutor of the month. This tutor will have their name and photo posted on the corporate page of the website as well as our Facebook page. Not only will they receive public acknowledgement and a certificate, the tutor of the month will receive “special prize” which will vary each month.
  9. Tutor Referral Program during our “busy” season
  10. During times when there is a high need for tutors, current tutors will receive a bonus for every person referred and hired that are qualified to tutor in high demand subjects.
