  • What was the point of this activity?

The point of this activity was to show what items can be magnetic and a visual of the magnetic field with the iron filings.

  • Explain how you would introduce this to your class?

I would introduce it by asking students what type of items they think are magnetic and test them out.

  • Where do you see students having difficulty?

I see students having difficulty with understanding the magnetic fields.

  • What changes or extensions could you do to this activity?

The only thing I would really change is to have the students brainstorm on what they think would be magnetic instead of just giving a bag full of items to test out.

Electromagnet & Loudspeaker Activity #2

  • What was the point of this activity?

The point of this activity was to demonstrate electromagnetism and the key components that you would need to make an electromagnet.

  • Explain how you would introduce this to your class?

I would introduce it by explaining what an electromagnet is and how we can make one. I would then have my students make an electromagnet with the given supplies.

  • Where do you see students having difficulty?

I see students having difficulty with wrapping the wire around the nail. I also see students having difficulty with getting the speaker to work correctly.

  • What changes or extensions could you do to this activity?

I would have the students try wrapping the wire around different objects to see if that would create an electromagnet.
