What happens when you take VCU graduate students out of the seminar room and put them in an incubator classroom? And then let them loose on the emerging field of “digital history”? Well, the instructors get to learn a lot, for one thing. And hopefully we all develop some new skills for public history, historical research, historical presentation, and collaboration. And we upend the stodgy old order of things, or we sell our souls to the neoliberal machine, depending on whom you ask. This class and this site represent the Department of History‘s first formal foray into the realm, through the assistance of the ALT-Lab.
