Welcome to ENGR 101 – the course that will introduce you to the many faces of Engineering!

Just the facts …

This course will provide an introduction to engineering through instruction on basic concepts of electrical, computer, mechanical and nuclear, chemical, and biomedical engineering. Topics will include an introduction to dynamics and kinematics, basic circuits, electromagnetics,  animal models, beer formulation, and programming. General topics important to all engineers will also be covered, such as mathematics, improving written and oral communication skills, teamwork, ethics and life-long learning. The laboratory introduces fundamental design, testing, measurement, root cause analysis, laboratory notebook maintenance, commercialization and IP registration. Engineering design and analysis is emphasized through a series of team-based design projects that involve designing, building and programming devices to perform specific tasks.

It’s actually more fun than that …

You will build a Motor, a Coil gun, a Phototherapy kit, and you will learn about electroplating …

You will learn about the concepts that made it possible for engineers to come up with the aforementioned devices ….

You will get a taste for all the cool stuff you will be learning about in the next four years …

You will develop your judgement and your independence …

You will learn what it takes to become a great engineer!
