Do you believe that we went to the moon? I absolutely do but some people still have a hard time believing that we did. Some people have looked at pictures for evidence and proof that we never really left. People who do not think we went to the moon believe it was staged. they also underestimate the technology that we had in 1969. The moon landing was in july of 1969. It is one of the greatest accomplishments man has ever done. I people do not want to believe that we went there because they do not think it was possible or that the moon is even real. I believe this is a ridiculous theory. Some people think we did not actually go and we just claimed that we went to get ahead of the soviet union in the space race. I do not understand why people think this though. I am curious to hear your thoughts on these topics. I also want to bring up the topic of a flat earth. I think this is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. People REALLY think this!!!!! we have evidence of the earth being round. We have pictures, we have videos, we have everything saying it is not flat. people who believe the earth is flat also believe there is a wall of ice at the edge of the world. If you believe the world is flat or that the moon landing was faked. Please let me know your reasoning, I am very curious to hear what your ideas on these topics are. I believe that the people who think we did not go to the moon are also the same people who believe that the earth is flat. I am really excited to hear what other people have to say about this. I really hope that I am not crazy about thinking the world is ROUND. I hope you are all having a great week so far. Kyrie Irving, boston celtics, point gaurd, thinks that the earth is flat too. I have a few more tests to study.  recylcing is good for the planet I hope that we can all participate in this. Please reduce, reuse and be sure to recycle. I am currently studying for a math test that i have next monday. I am finished with this blog post I do apologize for it being all over the place i am currently running out of things to write thank you for reading.

Why do you think people eat meat?

Why do you think people eat meat?

This blog topic was given to me by my roommate. I myself am not a vegetarian or a vegan by any means. But I do believe that this is a good topic to talk about so I am very curious to hear your perspective on things.

Meat is a source of protein, and energy for our bodies. It is not a necessity to live. Vegans are people who do not eat any meat or animal based products. I remember my senior year of high school I had to do a project on vegans. Vegans and vegan diets are lacking a lot of calcium. They also lack the vitamin B12. This vitamin has to do with how we grow. If you are lacking this especially at a young age you can possibly stunt growth. If you do not receive enough calcium this can lead to calcium deficiency. This can mean that you have very weak bones which can really be a problem in your younger years. The project that I did in high school was about why you should not be vegan, I was not the biggest fan of this project because I think it is a very healthy lifestyle. I chose the topic because it was a different and interesting perspective.

I am interested to hear about what your opinions on vegans or vegetarians are. I also am curious to hear about your eating habits? I believe I eat pretty healthy for my age, I usually eat sushi or a salad almost everyday for lunch and dinner. I am not the biggest fan of deserts so I do not really eat them that often.  The downside of my eating habits are probably just that I tend to snack a lot.

Also this week I want to talk about my paper. My paper that I had do this week was on Mars. I focused on how we could possibly get to Mars, and I also focused on life that could possibly exist there now as we speak. I am very satisfied with how the project turned out and I am really excited to hear what my professor thinks about it. I worked really hard on it outside and inside of class, and I am really just hoping my hard work pays off. I am trying to do the best I can this semester for reasons I have explained in previous blogs.

Grades and stress

The first semester of college was very stressful for me especially because I have never really been the smartest student. It also does not help that I was and still am undeclared. By the end of the semester needed a 3.0, this did not happen, I ended up with a 2.9. I needed a 3.0 gpa so that I could declare my major. I remember the class that brought me down was mainly art history, I was one point away from a B in that class and I emailed my professor to see if there was any possibility of a curve. This was not the case and it remained a 79. Now I am in my second semester and need to get my GPA up STLL. this especially stressful because I am also taking HARD classes. I currently am in CALCULUS 2 which I believe is the hardest class I have ever taken. I just recently took a test in that class and recieved a B. This B was A big confidence boost for me. All I really need to do now is get a good grade in my 3 other classes then I will have a lot of stress off my shoulders.  I am curious to hear about the hardest classes you have ever taken. I am also curious to hear about classes that you are looking forward to ? I am looking forward to my next math class, even though they are the most stressful classes. I am also looking forward to engineering classes when I am able to finally declare my major.

In high school I remember not really caring about what classes I take, but in college it is a whole different story. In college all of your classes go toward your major.

This year I have been much more studious than ever. I study almost every night for at least 2 hours a day. The only exception really is weekends, on weekends sometimes I get lazy.

I also want to tell about something that happened this week. This week I found a textbook after leaving my UNIV 112 class. It was laying on a bench before I went in class, and after it was still there. I ended up taking the book to the lost and found and the people there were very nice. So if you left a textbook outside I would check the lost and found because that is where I put it.

During my freshman year of high school I had never been interested or ever even tried to play any type of sport. Some parents force their kids to play sports so they can remain healthy.  Some parents make their kids play sports because they played the same sports. I had never played any sports during my life until high school. Once I got to sophomore year, I made my great friend and best friend now Alex. Alex was a freshman and began playing soccer his freshman year. Alex had gone to try outs and made the soccer team.  Alex one day invited me to play soccer with him and I remember it being more fun than any video game I had ever played. I fell in love with the sport and then began training for the next school years team. My junior year comes around and after training for over a year I went to tryouts. Tryouts were very rainy and wet. You could just feel the intensity of everyone in the air. Tryouts go on and by the end we are told that we will know who makes the team after the third day of tryouts, Friday. Friday comes and I remember speed walking to the list posted on the coaches door. I get to the door and read the entire list. I read off all of my friends name and even Alex’s and mine was nowhere to be found. This made me a little sad at the time. I went home that day and told my mother about what happened. She told me they just weren’t ready for my skills. I found this really funny. I didn’t think of it however as a defeat, I just thought of it as a way to get back at my coach, to prove him wrong, to make him think he made the wrong decision.  I trained with Alex even after his practices. We  trained the whole year again together and my senior year comes. I am playing the best I ever have. Try outs come again, and this year I was sure to make the coach remember me. I remember being the very first person on the list. playing on the soccer team that year was the most fun I ever had. The intensity was always in the air and it is what drove me to play harder and harder. Being a part of the soccer team was an amazing experience and I want to know if you have any sports stories?

When I was in high school I took Spanish class. Spanish was one of my favorite classes because the teacher was great, and the class was not only fun, but it turned out to be very useful. When I was a senior in high school I was a translator for my gym class I was taking. Our teacher who was new to the school, new to teaching, needed some help. Half of the class spoke Spanish and the other half English. I felt bad for our teacher, I was sure he already had enough on his plate at the time so I offered to help. He said he would love that I help. Through translating I made one of my greatest friends. I also was able to practice my Spanish extensively and learn more and more. I really wish to study more languages throughout my college career. I really want to learn Cantonese next because it is the language that my best friend speaks. It is not only a beautiful language but it would be really helpful to use it if I ever travel to China or if I even go and visit my friend and his family. Another language I have considered learning is French. French would be very useful especially if I vacation to or ever visit Europe. I would love to speak these languages because when you meet people who are from foreign countries it makes them feel a sense of home, what I mean is that when you speak woth them in their first language it can really just put a smile on their face.  It can make their day. I know this because my dad is bilingual. My did lived in the Philippines for about 13 years and there he learned the language, Tagalog. When we go in public and he recognizes someone who is phillipino he tries to communicate with them m. It always puts a huge smile on their faces to see someone who is not entirely Philippino speaking their language. I have always wanted to be like my dad like this. My dad I have always looked up to. He is one of the kindest nicest people I know. I hope one day we can go to the Philippines together and speak together in Tagalog. I plan on studying Cantonese over this summer break and hope fully taking a Chinese class next year.

So recently I have been reading a lot about space and time, and I will also begin my rough draft for my UNIV project this weekend. The project has to be a paper over 1000 words. The paper will be written though, like a dialogue between people of the sources we use for information in our text. My paper is going to be about space, something I am very curious about and really do want to study when I am older. I think it would be really interesting to study this for a living and for just the few days I have been studying and doing research I have really not thought of it as a project, but it is really fun.  For my paper I am going to talk about   MARS. I am curious especially to hear about what you guys have to say about this. My discussion will be on us going to Mars. Is it possible? What would be so hard about going there? So far through my research I have found that the hardest part about getting to mars is the cost. It will cost over 4 billion dollars to do a mars mission as planned. I have also learned that if we wish to go there for cheaper than that, we will need completely new rocket technologies. On our way there not only will we face the challenge of conserving enough oxygen to get there, we will have to face the challenge of being alone. Being alone with the same few people for over 500 days. Longer than a whole year. This will take a psychological role on the brave souls on this mission. Not only will they have to face the fact they’re alone. They will have to put up woth the fear of death everyday for 500 days. This can drive people crazy. When the people arrive on mars, they will try to find samples of life on mars. Where there is water on Mars there is possible life. The only places on mars where there is water are at the poles in the form of ice caps, and under the surface of Mars there are small streams of liquid water. I am really excited to write this dialogue this week and can’t wait to see how it turns out. It seems like it is going to feel more fun that like work, which is always a good thing.

The week is finally coming to an end and it is spring break. I do t want to do any work over spring break, and while that sounds like the dream I know it will not be the case. I have all kinds of math to study and psychology. I am curious to hear about your schedule, if you’re a student of course. Tell me what the hardest classes you are currently taking! Tell me about the hardest class you have ever taken! Currently I think I am taking the hardest class I might ever take. I am taking calculus 2 and most of it is ridiculous.

This week in UNIV 112 we began working with our research questions for our next unit project. This unit project is supposed to be a written/typed paper written in the form of a dialogue. The dialogue is supposed to be like if researchers and experts in their fields were conversing about whatever research question you come up with.

In class we learned about all of the different ways to get sources and all of the special things each research search engine does. Some of them would let you pick exactly what year you I meant an article from. Another example is you could pick a range of years, or even pick what kind of author it is. For example, you don’t want a construction worker writing a paper about medical help, if you find something on medical help , written by a doctor, you will find this PROBABLY more helpful than if it was written by a construction worker. The source searcher I found was best was the CQ researcher, this site is one I worked on in class to site a few things. It helped me find very credible and real sources. I am curious to hear (if you’re in UNIV 112) what search engines did you think were the most helpful? Why? What makes them stand out the most to you?

That is all I have for this week, I am so over school at the moment and just ready to relax this next week. There will be no blogs next week so I apologize for that. I can not wait to read all of your comments when I get back. Let me know if you guys are going anywhere cool over the break, if you are on break, if not let me know if you do anything cool this weekend!

This week has been such a long week in my opinion. However it has been a pretty good week. I have been practicing a lot of different studying strategies. I am currently taking Calc 2 and psychology which are both a big struggle right now. They are both four credit classes and they absolutely feel like they are. Anyway, one of the study strategies I used this week was example problems for calc. This involved creating my own problems and not just using ones given to us or even generated by a computer. This was really helpful especially since I did not know what the answer was supposed to look like. After I would do my problems I would ask my teacher in the next class how I did and she would tell me if I made any mistakes. Another good study strategy was, this week I went to my first SI session. These sessions are actually really helpful, and they make me feel way more confident when I am in the class. I went to my first psychology SI session and was introduced to how everything worked. I walked in and there were all these students at these round tables were all talking and studying together. I thought it would just be someone teaching us, but it’s nice to get to know some people. With these people you can talk and ask questions and help find the answer together. I remember we were talking about dreams, because it was psychology, and after our discussion the SI leader gave us a small example of test questions we might see about that topic. I remember getting a lot of these right throughout the session. It was not only super helpful it was actually kind of fun working with people you do not know.

Mom the topic of all these study habits, I was wondering what kind of study habits YOU use? Do you use any of the ones that I listed? Do you have any better ideas that you think I should try? If you are not a student, do you think my study strategies are plausible? Do you think they will be effective in the long run?

Anyway it has been a long week and I still have one more blog post to do before 11:00 tonight. No I do not like putting these off to the side, it just happens through the week because I have a pretty busy schedule and I always want a healthy amount of sleep. Thank you guys so much for reading, and be sure to respond to my questions so I can hear your feedback!
