I recently saw a video of a man playing “Royals” by LORDE. He played it with his large cowboy hat, he played it on the trombone. He was sat in the middle of a field an when he started playing an entire herd of cows came over the horizon. The cows slowly walked toward the man and as they got closer you could hear them bellowing or mooing. When the man would take breathes between notes the cows would moo to fill in the space. its adorable. This got me thinking about music. This got me thinking about how some people do not like music, or just never listen to it. I listen to music everyday. If I go to class without my headphones I feel so lost and I just feel like i can not function. I would love to know if anyone can relate to me with this. I find music to be my happy place, and depending on how i am feeling is usually what decides what i listen to . I am a big fan of pretty much all types of music. I know a lot of people will say this but i really mean it. For example, I remember finding a song in 2013 and i remember it being really terrible. But I thought  about the song and i realized that someone put their time and effort into this song. This really made me begin to appreciate all types of music. I ended up listening to the song a few more times, and now today it is one of my favorite songs. Has anything like this ever happened to you? do you guys just listen to music on a daily basis like I do? I feel like most music has a lot of emotions to it even if it is not obvious. For example a lot of rap does not really seem to carry many emotions, but if you analyze and think about the words, I am sure you can find a deeper meaning to the song you are listening to. I feel like ever since probably middle school i have listened to music each and every day. Do you guys listen to music everyday? what kind? I am curious to hear about your favorite songs, and what makes them your favorite? One of my favorite songs is called peas and porridge, it reminds me of my childhood and my past. This is not a sad song or a bad thing. It makes me happy to listen to this and it just makes me bask in the nostalgia that the song reminds me of.

So yesterday on april tenth 2019 we finally have obtained our first picture of a black hole. This picture was found by the help of a 29 year old student who had just recently graduated. This is what I hope my life is like in the near future. I want to find more information about black holes. I want to find out more about other planets that could possibly exist in the cosmos. I want to make a difference for not just the people on earth now, but for people who will live in the future. I want to discover planets, I want to learn about the inner workings of black holes. I want to learn all about space. Space is such an interesting topic to me and we still just barely know that much about it. It is so massive it really is incomprehensible. I want to help design ships that we could possibly use to fly to new planets in the future. Or maybe the ship I help design is not not just for going one place to another, but for living on permanently. Space has always interested me ever since i was a kid. So to be in college, now getting to learn the specifics of how things move through time, it is so exciting. I want to know what you guys think about the recent discovery of the black hole. How do you think this single photo will effect our discoveries of the future? I believe that this picture is the first of many. I feel like everyone after seeing it in such a resolution is going to want to see exactly what it looks like, i know i do! I believe that in the next few years we will work to improve how detailed our telescopes and cameras are. While this is a given, we will also get some insight to how black holes work. We can observe the light around it and things orbiting or near it. These will help us make predictions about the future or future problems we may have to face in space. So let me know what you think about the black hole! or if you do not really care at all let me know that too! I would love to hear what everyone thinks about it, I think it is one of the coolest things that has happened in recent years.

ethics part 2

The group is still working on the lifeboat dilemma where there are ten specific people who YOU are forced to pick who will be saved on a liferaft after their ship has crashed. The lifeboat can only hold five people. The people I chose to survive, that m,y group members absolutely did not agree with were, one of the two twins, the questionably pregnant woman, the old woman, the lifegaurd, and one of the newly married people. I chose one of the twins becasue If they both do not survive there will be no more kids for that family, or they would have one too many people, especioally since you would have two of the same people. I chose the questionably pregnant woman because, If she is pregnant she could possibly have life inside of her, that and she would not be able to help herself. I chose the old person becasue they would also not be able to help themselves, since they are old they would probably not be able to swim and would probably end up drowning. I chose  the lifegaurd to help anyone on board of the raft that might fall out or try to swim away. I chose one of the newly married members, because I like couples. I, of course, do not like splitting them up but I thought they were so cute and I did not want to pick two so i picked one. When I said I wanted to take one twin everyone dissagreed and said that I either take 0 of them or both of them. This is the way that everyone thought and i attempted to think outside of the box and come up with reasons to just take one, I also believe I used the same thought process for the married couple. When I said I would take the old woman and the questionably pregnant woman people told me that they would be no help to the survival of the people on the ship. I said that They might not be the most help but i believe that they would NEED the most help out of anyone else on the ship. I believe that I made the right choices when it comes to this dilemma. Everyone has thier choices and reasioning for their choices, and almost everyone’s is different which is what makes ethical dilemmas so interesting. Thank you for reading but please let me know who you would have picked.

This week we talked about a lot of ethical situations and ethical reasonings. In my UNIV 112 class we talked all about ethical dilemmas and how to resolve or handle them. Even though there really is no solution they are still really interesting to see everyone’s different thoughts on them. The first example we had was the trolley problem. This problem is very popular and is one of the best examples of an ethical dilemma. In this dilemma there is a trolley, it is speeding down a track and is about to hit 5 people, the caveat is when you are the trolley driver and you have to decide whether or not you should switch the track to another track with one person. My thoughts about this is that you should switch the track. If you are treating everyone equally then you should value the groups lives more than the single person. This is my personal opinion. Other people say that they would NOT switch it because they would not want it to be their decision, they say that whatever happens happens. This is an okay way to look at this but I believe that if you can help more than just one person you should help the bigger number of people.  I am curious to hear your thoughts about this so please tell me what you would do in this situation.

The other ethical dilemma that we did in class was about 10 people. They included: a nurse,  a ships captain, a newly married young couple, two thirteen year old twins, a life guard,  and an old person, a woman who thought she may be pregnant, and another person i can not remember. But the whole class had to decide who they would save if these 10 people had to be put on a life raft. the life raft was only able to hold five people. So we had to pick which five we thought should go on the trip. I said that one of the twins should go. I also said the woman who might be pregnant. The life guard, the nurse, and the old woman. We did this activity in groups and alot of my group members did not agree with me. They believed that other people should most definately go first. The real way I believe to best decide who would go is whoever 5 people get on the life raft first, but since it is an ethical dilemma of course we have to pick who goes.
