My group and I made the connection that most of our posts were about technology, how we use it and how it is changing everyday.
This is important to note because though we are highly benefited by possessing these supplements through technology, by relying solely on these supplements for the retaining of our information, are we truly benefiting? It has both positive and negative effects.
The type of props and media added really shows a lot about the personality inspiring the blog.
My interaction with the computer was very quick, informative and easy!
“It seems likely that the contributions of human operators and equipment will blend together so completely in many operations that it will be difficult to separate them neatly in analysis.”
I completely agree with this statement from the article. Today there are so many automated machines, and programed robots that are completing tasks and doing jobs that actually required human labor not so long ago.
“We are staggered by the findings and conclusions of thousands of others which we can’t find the time to grasp, yet specialization becomes increasingly necessary for progress”
As we begin to rely more one more on machines and equipment, it seems like the tables have turned now and it’s the machines that are questioning our faults and flaws. The nugget shows that both man and computer are thinking the exact same thing,
I liked that she stated the key word “full” because although we do exercise our cognitive skills, we never really reach our full capability of cognitive thinking because we really don’t have to! Technology is there to reach that level for us, which can be a disfavor to us.
“Man’s population and gross product are increasing at a considerable rate, but the complexity of his problems grows still faster, and the urgency with which solutions must be found becomes steadily greater in response to the increased rate of activity and the increasingly global nature of that activity”
“…In some areas of technology, a fantastic change has taken place during the last few years.”
“Science has provided the swiftest communication between individuals; it has provided a record of ideas and has enabled man to manipulate and to make extracts from that record so that knowledge evolves and endures throughout the life of a race rather than that of an individual.”
“If scientific reasoning were limited to the logical processes of arithmetic, we should not get far in our understanding of the physical world”
“The entire effect of an individual on the world stems essentially from what he can transmit to the world through his limited motor channels.” It started with our hands; physical yet strong and consistent in output. Then there were machines to guide and enhance our hands with their foreseen unlimited strength.
“Of what lasting benefit has been man’s use of science and of the new instruments which his research brought into existence? First, they have increased his control of his material environment. They have improved his food, his clothing, his shelter; they have increased his security and released him partly from the bondage of bare existence.”
“The system we want to improve can thus be visualized as a trained human being together with his artifacts, language, and methodology. The explicit new system we contemplate will involve as artifacts computers, and computer-controlled information-storage, information-handling, and information-display devices.”
“…it has provided a record of ideas and has enabled man to manipulate and to make extracts from that record so that knowledge evolves and endures throughout the life of a race rather than that of an individual.”
“Mechanical extension” has given way to replacement of men, to automation, and the men who remain are there more to help than to be helped”
“This quote essentially means, as a society we want to improve and focus on the abilities of us as humans and the amazing things we can do with our knowledge and skills.”
“The applications of science have built man a well-supplied house, and are teaching him to live healthily therein.”
“As technology is further advanced, so are our human capabilities. In modern society, we are trained and taught to be better than our last generation, with new inventions and discoveries, man has been even better than the one who raised him.”
“They are illuminating the interactions of his physiological and psychological functions, giving the promise of an improved mental health.”
“Machines have begun to take over our lives through means of computers and smartphones. This extension of technology has given way to a great deal of automation for completing tasks that used to be done by paid employees.”
“The author seems as though he is directing his writing toward exactly what has become the present day with technology. He made accurate predictions which have quickly transformed into reality throughout the past few decades. His profound thought process about machines and how they operate is informing and almost baffling.”
Technology has sufficiently enhanced all realms of our world however; the questions of the practicality of our own organisms have come into play. Robots and systems known as “man-computer symbiosis created to, at the emergence, extend our capabilities are now becoming one with our own organisms.
