Sixth Annual Emswiller Interprofessional Symposium: Collaborating to Close Gaps

Life expectancy varies by as much 15 years depending on social determinants of health. How can the interprofessional team help close that gap? By the conclusion of this event, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the factors that shape the health of our communities
  • Identify approaches to interprofessional practice that overcome health inequities
  • Articulate educational activities that increase interprofessional practice and improve health outcomes

Weather, Comfort, and Meals

Seasonal weather is forecasted for Saturday, with a high of 43F and a low of 31F. Richmond metro weather forecast is available here. Every effort is made to maintain a comfortable temperature in the meeting space. We recognize that each participant may have different comfort levels. We encourage you to dress according to your comfort level, as the temperature may fluctuate throughout the event. Hot beverage service is available throughout the entire event. Breakfast will not be served. Lunch, with noted dietary restrictions, will be served at 11.45AM. The afternoon break will include snacks and hot beverages.


Poster set up begins at 8:30 AM. Upon checking-in you will be directed to your assigned location. Poster size is limited to 4′ x 6′ (48 inches by 72 inches). We will provide tacks to affix your poster to the board. Poster presentations and judging will take place during lunch at 11:45AM-1:15PM. If you are planning to provide copies, we anticipate 125-150 participants at this event. Any posters left at the venue at the conclusion of this event will be discarded. Registration and Rates

Online registration is open until February 3, 2018. The VCU School of Dentistry Office of Continuing Education is managing event registration and payment processing.

  • $25 – Current student: Non-employee; full-time student. CE only available if purchased.
  • $50 – Trainee: Intern, Resident, Post-doc. CE only available if purchased.
  • $125 – Regular after December 17, 2017 – February 3, 2018; included walk-ins

If your registration payment is outstanding, payment may be made online with a credit card (Visa, MasterCard or Discover), or at the event by check or money order made payable to ‘Dentistry-VCU Continuing Education’. Cash and credit cards cannot be accepted the day of the event. If you plan on registering on site, please arrive at 8:00am. Cash and credit cards cannot be accepted the day of the event.

CE Credit

Participants wishing to claim continuing education credit for pharmacy, nursing, and medicine must complete and submit event evaluation before 5pm on February 19.
