Corporations have a large influence in our society because they are on a Marco level when in comparison to small businesses. This gives them a large amount of power and it is hard to control the amount of power some corporations hold. We spoke in class about how banks profit in many avenues such as loans. When someone decides that they would like to get a new car most dealers and friends advise the person to go to a bank to get the best rate. It is amazing how much power banks have because we need them in our economy to survive. They keep certain individuals in debt which I feel is an example of how imperatively coordinated associations like banks capitalize off of their power. Dahrendorf spoke how conflict is normal but is rooted in social structures. Banks are perfect example of that because they are assets to other corporations such as the government as they provide a balance. The different corporations are interdependent of each other as they provide capital gain. The problem with this type of relationship is that it can cause an abuse of power. It will be hard for American’s to reverse or control this relationship because we are too dependent on them.
