SOL: 1.2 The student will describe the stories of American leaders and their contributions to our country,

with emphasis on George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Abraham Lincoln, George

Washington Carver, and Eleanor Roosevelt.

 

Learning outcome: Students will be placed into groups of three and assigned a historical figure. Students will then use Pinterest to collect information and learn about their person. Students will then use the information collected to make a post on the classroom instagram with a bio under the picture as a learning assessment. Rubrics would be provided with information that would be expected to be included in the bio.

TCK-Using social media platforms to learn about America’s historical figures through conducting research and presenting that knowledge through posting facts and images based on the content learned.

TPK– Researching facts about their assigned historical figure by using pinterest, then creating an instagram post that includes a picture and bio of that historical figure to portray their understanding of the material.

PCK– Instructing students on historical US figures using meaningful strategies students can use and be creative with. Guiding the students through learning about people from history by presenting interesting fact and figures found online.
