I enjoyed creating the open government timeline. It encouraged me to integrate resources from diverse sources. It also helped me develop a comprehensive appreciation for key developments in open government. Finally, viewing the final product was rewarding. Perhaps a timeline will be the first assessment I develop for the new course. Regarding potential challenges, TimelineJS was easy to use; however, students may have technical challenges if they do not follow the instructions (e.g., don’t delete certain content, don’t include blank rows). I will recommend this resource, but also allow students to find their own tools and to share those “finds” with the class.
A tip: there’s a plug-in that allows you to embed timelines created with this tool directly in your site. We can help you with that, if you’re interested. Or see ,this.
