    • You list your learning outcomes as :

Understand the importance of a positive online reputation
Understand how social media can affect job opportunities
Understand how social media can promote businesses and potential employees
Understand the importance of online privacy

      My feedback:

Your module consists of one lesson and one assessment project. You start the lesson with a reading. This is pretty well done. Your text is well hyperlinked. Good job. You then provide students with a short answer quiz. I wonder if you could use the same prompt or something similar and do it as a discussion board, and then try to get student-student interaction. Just a thought.

You then have them read 3 more articles and ask them to create blog posts. I am not sure how this is done. Maybe you are providing instruction on creating blog posts in the f2f class. I don’t see anything about it in the module however. You may also want to consider changing up the activities a bit, right now it is very text heavy, and your content is actually very social (social media) so there may be a better fit for teaching this content, such as engaging in social media.

When asking students to respond to other students, you may want to consider giving more detail. Just asking them to respond often leads to group think answers and shallow responses. Consider asking them to respond to specific elements, or to bring in personal aspects to their posts and responses. This is one of the harder elements to do well in virtual teaching but is critical.

I am not sure I understand the group project at the end, or your discussion of MOOCS embedded in there. This needs further clarification

      Happy Holidays!

    • Go ahead and modify your module to be only what you want your students to see, so you can remove the TPACk analysis. Also, your second lesson is pretty short. Just a discussion prompt.

I like the way you made your response age specific. I am very interested in the way students respond to different aspects of the class according to their level of maturity. Do you think you would notice a difference if you presented your module at the beginning of the year as opposed to the end? With high school, I don’t feel that I would have…[Read more]

I like the way you explained your roles. I think with an online class, the roles are many and sometimes you are acting in more than one role at a time. While the 8th graders are in need of strong guidance, I find that the high schoolers are in need of constant motivation. I will have to put in little motivators to encourage them along the way.

The videos, powerpoints, and articles are the subjects of the discussion boards. The discussion questions have the instructor option of allowing students to read only after they have posted. In this way, I plan to use the discussion board as a way to do miniature peer reviews of the material and then open it up for discussion.
