I think I hear symbols as well or some instrument that makes a twinkling sound. The tone of the song sounds uplifting because of its progression. It adds more music on top of the other music which pushes the song higher and higher. I couldn’t help but bob my head and eventually clap along with the clapping in the song. There was one point at about…[Read more]

What’s weird is the reason behind the song. The song is light, makes you want to dance like a professional, and yet the song is about lynching in the south. If you read the lyrics you get a sick feeling in your s […]

While waiting for a meeting at an elementary school, I saw at least five studdnts doing this dance move (The Floss).

For my music selection, I chose Billie Holiday’s Strange Fruit. I found the instrumental version here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-07UU3qDUc. I first hear the saxophone and then the piano. To me, a sax so […]

I can definitely hear the saxophone and piano clearly in the intro and then the piano continues. For some reason I think of dancers dancing to a Spanish style song with flowers in their heads so in that aspect, our perspectives of the song are similar. I also agree with the light mood.
What’s weird is the reason behind the song. The song is light, makes you want to dance like a professional, and yet the song is about lynching in the south. If you read the lyrics you get a sick feeling in your stomach and you even stop hearing the music and focus on the images in your mind.
