I think it was nice to hear your reflection on our discussions and topics this week. I totally understand what you mean by feeling uncomfortable when it comes to thinking about all of this in regards to ourself.

  • I think it was funny that I got the “eat” journal because my weight and eating habits have been an issue for me ever since I had scoliosis surgery the summer before my junior year in high school. Before my bac […]

    • I was also assigned the eating journal. I am sorry to hear about your struggles since high school. I think it makes it extra tough when people are giving you feedback you aren’t asking for when you are already going through a tough time. I am glad to hear you are working on it. I know I haven’t been through 1/2 of what you have and I struggle with eating properly (especially on a college budget) I’m glad you are in a positive position about your body!

Wow I already forgot about mindfulness, I also think it is really important to have in regards to making sure we stay out of the box.

  • I think what really stuck out to me this week was Dr. Wu pong’s two examples, the conversation with her mom and when she showed that negativity spreads more negativity. The conversation with her mom made me r […]

    • Love your last paragraph and can relate to it with another person in my life. I think it is great that you recognize your feelings and relate them to your actions.

  • This week was interesting because we focused on positive emotions and forgiveness, which were things that I struggled with this week. I was upset at my family for something and it’s taking me a while to forgive t […]

As a senior also graduating in May, I can understand where you are coming from in terms of your anxiety about graduation and figuring out what you want to do with your life. I think the personal mission statement is not definitive, you may have a personal mission statement right now of something like being a role model for kids and that may change…[Read more]

    • I love that your personal improvement involves creativity! I have that at the top of my list! I think it is so smart to take time aside to do something or explore something creative. I really want to start making a point to do it in my own life.

Ripple effect is totally right, I really see this play out into my own family and friends. I think people often times forget that if something is bothering them they should share it instead of taking it out on people which seems to happen most often. However, I understand how hard it is to keep certain emotions in check, especially if something…[Read more]

I agree, I thought it was cool that Dr. Reina works for the VCU Business School. When I think of someone teaching on something like Mindfulness, I immediately think they are doing psychology or behavioral health. It was actually nice having someone who doesn’t necessarily work for the School of Psychology to give us a perspective on Mindfulness. I…[Read more]

I liked when you said “most strengths manifest themselves within other strengths” which is really true, especially when I talked to my partners as well. I also liked when you said that you are working on your health and one of your strengths is helping with it. I don’t have the best health and I never thought about using one of my strengths as a…[Read more]

    • I absolutely love your quote! That is something I think about almost every day!

I love that you reminded me about our discussion with the word “talent.” I can tell you are really engaged into this but like you said in a “casual” way. I am not like this at all but I want to be more casual about it. I tend to go a little crazy when I get a new idea in my head and from reading your post it helped me relax a bit. Thank you for sharing this!

    • I agree it was kind of weird to get a strength in our top 5 that we didn’t know we possessed, but it awesome during group discussion when we realize ways that we have executed our strengths without even knowing it!

    • I love hearing that people felt that their strengths really aligned with what they had chosen to do. I’d be very upset if I pursued an entire degree and my personality worked against it the entire time.

I thought it was surprising when you talked about how one of the strengths in your results was the exact opposite of who you are, I found that happening in my results as well. I also agree that intellect which contains a lot of thinking can be good and bad because I think all the time that sometimes it triggers anxiety in me as well because…[Read more]

I totally agree, encouraging is so important and something that my now (ex) friends never did. Friendships should not be about a competition or jealousy, it should be uplifting one another no matter what. I also agree that listening is essential. I find myself more of a listener than someone who talks a lot which can come off as bad to some as first.
