The Outdoor Leadership certificate is designed to prepare undergraduate students for work within a variety of professional outdoor leadership contexts such as natural resource management, environmental stewardship, outdoor education, outdoor recreation, and adventure tourism. Students will develop technical hands-on outdoor leadership skills and gain a better understanding of environmental stewardship, safety & risk management and group dynamics. The curriculum focuses on educating students in the theory, processes, and techniques required to work in the field of outdoor recreation and education. Throughout this certificate program students will engage in experiential field based learning experiences that provide a deeper understanding of the concepts taught in class. Graduates will be able to design and facilitate outdoor adventure experiences independently or as part of a team while also being able to translate these skills into other professional industries that they pursue.
