week 5 blog post

My only experience with LMS as a public school student was a system my high school used called ParentPortal that was absolutely atrocious. It wasn’t made for students — as evidenced by the name of the program itself — and it barely worked for the people it was made for. Most of my teachers avoided using it. The website rarely loaded, the servers were always crashing, and the format was confusing to interact with.

Probably because of this I’m a big fan of paper-and-pencil grading and handing back student assignments personally with feedback attached. However, my practicum teacher has a really cool program that scans bubble sheets on her phone and automatically uploads the grades to her computer. I’m not sure how it interacts with the students or the parents or even if they have access to it, but I like how easy it is to use.
