Veteran Professional Development Workshop

Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017 from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.

VCU Military Student Services Office sponsors a professional development workshop in the University Student Commons, Forum Room, for veterans and anyone who is interested in jobs in the IT industry post-graduation. The workshop will feature Mike Powers, national IT recruiter and veteran, who will offer insight on resume writing, interview tips and elevator pitches. Refreshments will be served. Open to all. We invite you to participate in VCU’s first-ever Experiential Learning Expo. This event allows you to connect directly with both VCU departments and community-based organizations who offer opportunities for relevant, experiential and applied learning.

Whether you are seeking volunteer, internship, research, creative or other experiential opportunities, we are excited to connect you to organizations that can help you grow as a professional.

Pre-registration is not required.

Personal Statement Workshop!

“So, tell me about yourself.”

A hands-on approach to writing about you.

VCU Career Services and Trey Hall, of the Writing Center, are offering a hands-on workshop to develop a personal statement you can use in interviews and when describing yourself.

This event will be held twice in the month of October, so be sure to attend the session that works best for you!

You can learn a lot about a person by the way they handle a butter knife. During your career you’ll experience interviews and professional meetings that take place over a meal.

Learn how to navigate professional dining settings to prepare for interviews, conferences and other professional interactions. The session will include the opportunity to practice the skills you learn over a three course meal. This free dinner offers you the opportunity to hone your skills with your peers in a supportive learning environment.

Richmond Teacher Residency: ‘Coffee and Conversation’ Information Session

Thursday, Sep. 14, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The VCU Richmond Teacher Residency Program holds a “Coffee and Conversation” information session at 3600 W. Broad St., Suite 300. Residents learn side-by-side with top Richmond Public School teachers for an entire year while earning a master’s degree from VCU. Residents receive one-on-one training from a content-specific coach throughout the first two years of their teaching careers.
