VCU Health Sciences Pipeline Programs applications are now OPEN! Students who complete the programs are given opportunities for incredible experiential learning and the ability to build social capital by connecting with admissions faculty in the various health professions programs.

For Juniors, Seniors, and Post-Baccalaureate Students, they have SAEP (Summer Academic Enrichment Program)

Volunteers Around The World at VCU

Volunteers Around the World at VCU is accepting applicants to their Summer Medical Outreach trip to Cambodia. Applicants from all backgrounds and majors who are passionate about volunteering are accepted. During clinic days volunteers will gain experience shadowing local physicians, taking vitals and learning about basic pharmacology. There will also be an opportunity to plan an interactive health lesson that will be presented to a classroom of young students.  This is an intensive two-week trip that is extremely valuable for someone who wants to gain insight into healthcare in communities abroad, while also experiencing a new country. Summer Study Abroad Program: Midwifery and Health in Guatemala

VCU’s Institute for Women’s Health and Highland Support Project will host a week in partnership with indigenous midwives and community leaders in Guatemala. Participants will learn about traditional Maya medicine and midwifery practices in the region. The trip will be May 16-23, 2020. The cost is $985 plus airfare. March 1 is the application deadline. United2Heal To Host Friday Warehouse Event

Friday, Sep. 13, 2019 from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

VCU’s United2Heal chapter will hold its weekly warehouse event on Sept. 13. At the event, 1210 Bentley St., volunteers sort and organize excess medical supplies collected from hospitals and clinics for shipment to countries in need. For more information, contact Bilal Ghazi at masoodbg@vcu.edu.

Volunteers Sought for VCU Cancer Patient Advocate Group

Take the Fight at VCU is a chapter of a nonprofit organization which supports patients with cancer as well as the medical staff. The group seeks to facilitate the exchange of medical information and increase the patient’s ability to follow their treatment plan. Volunteers take leading roles in community outreach, fundraising and campus engagement. Students from all majors are welcome.
