‘Graphic Medicine: A Comics and Health Care Workshop’

Minority Association of Pre-Health Students To Meet

Monday, Sep. 9, 2019 at 7 p.m.

The Minority Association of Pre-Health Students at VCU will host its first general body meeting of the semester. The session will be held in Room 1112, Grace and Broad Residence Center 1, 1000 W. Grace St. Those who attend will have the opportunity to learn about the opportunities the group offers, ranging from pipeline events to medical education seminars. Medical and Dental Outreach Trip

Volunteers Around the World at VCU is accepting applicants to their Summer Medical Outreach trip to Cambodia. Applicants from all backgrounds and majors who are passionate about volunteering are accepted. During clinic days volunteers will gain experience shadowing local physicians, taking vitals and learning about basic pharmacology. There will also be an opportunity to plan an interactive health lesson that will be presented to a classroom of young students.

Scholarship Opportunity for Experiential Learning!!

The Baldacci Experiential Learning Fund grants academically-promising students of diverse areas of study and backgrounds with financial support to pursue internships, conferences, research, domestic or study abroad trips, and/or social entrepreneurship opportunities. Awards between $1,000–$5,000 will support the experiential learning activities. Eligibility: Applicants must be full time undergraduate rising juniors or seniors, in good academic standing, and be primary majors in the College of Humanities and Sciences.

Summer Study Abroad Program: Midwifery and Health in Guatemala

The VCU Institute for Women’s Health and Highland Support Project spend a week, May 19-26, in partnership with indigenous midwives and community leaders learning about traditional Maya medicine and exploring the history of health care and healing in Guatemala. The group will learn about traditional medicine and midwifery practices. The cost is $985 plus airfare. The application deadline is Friday, March 23.
