VCU Students can elect to establish a letter of evaluation file with the Office of Pre-Professional Health Advising. This service collects letters of recommendation from your references and sends your letter file packet to medical and dental school application systems (AMCAS, AACOMAS, AADSAS, TMDSAS) using the website VECollect. Letters of recommendation collected by the Office of Pre-Professional Health Advising for a student’s letter packet are valid for one year only. Students who are reapplying for the following application cycle will be required to set-up a new file and request updated letters from recommenders.
Letter of evaluation packets are transmitted for the following purposes only:
- Application process for medical or dental school
- Military Scholarships for health professions programs
- Post-Baccalaureate programs
Letters will only be sent to US and Caribbean medical schools. Other requests for submission will be evaluated on a case by case basis and are not guaranteed to be submitted due to costs or other considerations.
To utilize the file service, students are required to pay a $20 fee to which will give them access to VECollect. VECollect is the letter of recommendation collection service that VCU uses. Your VECollect account must be activated before letters can to be submitted by your letter of recommendation writers.
