As program director for Embrace Richmond, I coached indigenous community leaders in under-resourced communities using asset-based community development principles. I nurtured partner relationships with area churches, local public agencies and private organizations in support of initiatives spearheaded by indigenous leaders. Patrice Shelton, pictured below, is one of those leaders.

I served on a Young History Makers film project through a partnership with the Boys and Girls Club and the Black History Museum. We implemented a summer program where students learned about a hero’s journey as seen through the lens of African American history makers. A short video entitled Young History Makers was produced as a result of our work.
