Alysia Leung

For Alysia Leung, there are two songs that could be her life’s theme song “I hope you dance” by Lee Ann Womack and “Humble and Kind” by Tim McGraw. Alysia grew up in Bluefield, Virginia and is bilingual. She came to VCU because she loves the Richmond area.

“It’s cultural, and it [Richmond] has great food. They also have an amazing pharmacy program,” Alysia said.

In Alysia’s mind, diversity and inclusion are best displayed on VCU’s MCV Campus when students have free time to do things outside of the classroom. Although, she does see areas of opportunity as it relates to inclusion on campus.

As a SCIE Ambassador, Alysia joined the program to develop her leadership skills as a health sciences professional and individual. Alysia would like to improve her delegation skills and become a more well-rounded leader in general.  She hopes to use her leadership skills to their full potential.

As for advice, Alysia reminds new health sciences students not to be afraid of trying new things and to step out of their comfort zone.
