Discussion Question: ADHD

For this discussion, you will visit the website below.  Your general focus for this discussion is how can you help elementary students with AD/HD make progress in the general education curriculum for long-term positive results?

On the left-hand side of the site there is a link to “attention”. Click on it and try the two simulations on the top. Answer the questions for each simulation. Also watch the video on attention. You may find the whole website interesting and are invited to examine the additional information to answer the questions below. 

In the discussion area below, please give specific answers referring directly to the simulation activities you completed.

  1. How well did you perform the activities?
  2. Were there some you were good at? Which ones? 
  3. How did your performance on these activities make you feel?
  4. Do you believe these activities are similar to the experiences of a real student with attention problems? Why or why not?
  5. Do you believe you have a better understanding of the experiences of a student with ADD? Why or why not? 
  6. What are three strategies you may use to teach students with attention problems in your classes?
