After looking at the different Makes for this week I decided that the timeline one could be useful for both of the online classes I’ll be teaching – Intro to Mass Communication and Crisis Communication. I started to create a timeline for my Intro class that highlights major events in the history of mass communication. It is definitely a work in progress because this will be a large timeline and it takes time to find and upload all of the images, links, etc. that you want to use. I think this TimelineJS tool is also something I can use for Crisis Communication (I can either have students create timelines or I can create some to make my lectures more interesting). This tool was very, very easy to use and I am excited about finishing my history of mass communication timeline and using it for other things in the near future!
Looking forward to seeing your Timeline when it’s done. Its a great way to weave multimedia into a narrative around your course. It’ll be great to see what kind of projects students can create with this tool. Here’s an example of a Timeline created by a VCU faculty member for his course: http://bit.ly/1Ca3UN6
