Temperature Change for Antacid

•What was the point of this activity?
To introduce the different reactions between antacid and yeast and help students have a better understanding of exothermic reactions.
•Explain how you would introduce this to your class.
• Introduce and explain exothermic reactions, and allow students to participate in a group activity. Students will use place antacids into a hot, warm, and cold cup of water and record any temperature changes.
Where do you see a student having difficulty with this?
-Measuring time incorrectly
-Measuring temperatures incorrectly
•What changes or extensions could you do to this activity?
•Use more amount of antacid, newer antacid
Scientific Principles:
The higher the temperature of the water the faster the antacid dissolves. The temperature correlates with how fast or how slow the molecules move. Hot temperatures cause the molecules to move faster causing the temperature to increase.
