Mental Health in Schools Conference: Advancing Equitable Outcomes through School-Based Prevention and Intervention

Description:

The annual Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) Mental Health in Schools conference focuses on coordinating and aligning a comprehensive array of school mental health services – promotion, prevention, and intervention – to maximize student outcomes.  The intended audience for this conference is school personnel that provide mental health/social emotional supports to students in K-12 schools, including school counselors, school psychologists, school social workers,  school nurses, and other student support professionals and administrators.

Cost and Registration

This is a free professional development opportunity sponsored by the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE).

Participants may register at the Mental Health in Schools registration site.

Participants are encouraged to register in school division teams, to include: school psychologist, schools social worker, school counselor, and other student support professionals and administrators. Pre-registration is required and no on-site registration will be available.

All registered participants will be required to present an identification card at the check- in desk upon arrival.  Individuals registered will not be permitted to send a substitute if they are unable to attend.  No audio or video taping of the training sessions will be allowed. The Virginia Department of Education reserves the right to cancel the registration of any person who does not meet the registration criteria.

Lodging

Participants are responsible for their lodging costs. The VDOE has reserved a block of rooms at Holiday Inn  Roanoke-Tanglewood at the special rate of $94. Details on lodging are forthcoming. Reservations must be made on or before July 26, 2019 to secure the special rate.

Call-in reservations may be made by calling the hotel at 1-540-774-4400.  Please ask for “Mental Health in Schools” when calling.

Meals

Continental breakfast and lunch will be served on both days to registered participants.
