I can’t upload any more images/documents to my Rampages Site
Rampages.us has a generous storage allowance per user. If you’re running into issues with this limit there are a couple of things to consider.
If you’re hosting lots of images, consider activating and running the two plugins described below. They’ll make sure that your images are not large in size and are compressed effectively.
Imsanity – resizes images to make sure you don’t have a 5000 pixel image when most screens are much smaller.
Go to Plugins and activate Imsanity
You’ll now see Imsanity listed under Settings. Click on it. Click Search For Images. After that search is complete click Resize Checked Images
WP Smush Pro
Go to Plugins and activate WP Smush Pro
You’ll now see WP Smush listed under Media
Click Bulk Smush Now
If this doesn’t solve your problem there are a few different ways you might upload and use images in your blog.
Google Drive- Your VCU Google Drive account has unlimited storage. Details on how to use this with WordPress are here.
Flickr- Flickr currently offers 1 Terabyte of free storage space. To embed Flickr images in WordPress paste the URL to the image on a line by itself in a wordpress post or page.
Instagram- To embed Instagram images in WordPress paste the URL to the image on a line by itself in a wordpress post or page.
If your upload limits are being caused by other files (like PDFs, PPTs etc.) then Google Drive is likely your best bet. You can address this issue in two ways.
Your VCU Google Drive account has unlimited storage. Details on how to embed individual files so that they are world-viewable are here.
Alternately, you can embed a Google Drive Folder. Any files you add to that folder will be visible instantly.
To do this create a folder on Google Drive and set the permissions so that it’s visible to either your students, VCU in general, or the world.
Go to Plugins and activate Google Drive Folder Embed.
Follow the instructions here.
