A lot of people receiving food assistance for the first time suffer from anxiety from embarrassment or loss of pride. Every food pantry is there to help their clients which includes maximizing the comfort of a food pantry user throughout their time. Resource centers and food banks could offer free counseling sessions to people who are going through this for the first time and don’t really know how to grasp it. Sessions could be held one-on-one with an employee of the center, or in group settings with multiple clients so no one feels alone. Counseling is a natural anxiety cure and would give food pantry users an outlet they’ve never had before.
