Va-LEND has a new category for trainees beginning in Summer 2017 that specifically targets family members or people with disabilities who have a developmental disability who do not have an undergraduate degree. Trainees in this category focus on the refinement of leadership skills and disability policy advocacy. They do not enroll in the courses or practicum, but do attend 6 sessions of Seminar I (Fall semester – Wednesdays beginning at 4:30 – 32 hours) and attend 2 sessions of Seminar II (Spring semester) which are held on Wednesdays beginning at 4:30 – 8 hours). Additional training is offered during the12 month program. A stipend in the amount of $200 is available.
